Differences Between 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon & 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara
Serving Cincinnati, OH, Columbus, OH, and Springfield, OH
For the 2018 model year, Jeep introduced the “JL” production cycle of its popular Wrangler model, ushering in the nameplate’s fourth generation of production. Since 1987, the Jeep Wrangler has stood out for its off-road orientation, which is often missing on most other SUVs. At the same time, the Wrangler has been tamed with suspension, drivetrain, and interior upgrades to also make it attractive to daily drivers. The Rubicon and Sahara are among the Wrangler’s upper-level trims, providing a great blend of power, trail-conquering ability, and safety.
Off-Road Prowess
There’s no denying the unmatched off-road ability of the Jeep Wrangler in the SUV market. It is the only vehicle in its class with standard four-wheel drive (4x4), which is not just ideal for combating slick surfaces, but also conquering obstacles or unfavorable weather elements such as boulders, rivers, mud, and snow. On the Rubicon, you would get the Rock-Trac 4x4 system, which uses a 4-to-1 low-gear ratio to let you crawl at a lower speed with a greater increase in torque at the wheels. On the Sahara, the 4x4 system is the Command-Trac, which is characterized by a transfer case for smooth and quiet yet tough and beefy trail driving. For further protection of your undercarriage, go with the Rubicon, which has the addition of rock rails.
Engine Options
The 2019 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Sahara are blessed with potent engine choices. The standard engine under the hood is the longstanding 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which churns out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. You have the option of going with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine referred to as the e-Torque. Smaller than the Pentastar V6, the e-Torque is consequently more fuel-efficient, and this is further enforced by its ability to store energy while the Wrangler is braking and then releases it upon acceleration—thanks to the addition of a small battery. In addition, the e-Torque provides 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, thus providing enough output to give the Pentastar a run for its money.
Additional Safety Features
The 2019 Wrangler Rubicon and Sahara models welcome the availability of adaptive cruise control to automatically adjust the vehicle speed to maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead, as well as forward collision warning for scanning the road ahead and alerting you if the distance to a vehicle ahead is closing too quickly. This is in addition to standard safety features such as electronic roll mitigation, electronic stability control, hill start assist, a rearview camera, traction control, trailer sway damping, a theft-deterrent system, and front impact and side impact airbags.
