How Does the RAM 1500 Perform?
This model holds its own against all competition in terms of payload and towing capabilities. The EcoDiesel version can tow up to 9,000 pounds, excellent for this truck model segment. The diesel engine, rated at 240 horsepower and an impressive 420 lb-ft of torque, is the engine of choice if hauling heavy loads over uneven terrain is in the future. The new hybrid version, known as eTorque, will soon be available on the dealer lot. The 3.6L Pentastar engine is back for 2019, and so is the 5.7L HEMI. The latter produces 395 horsepower and, when properly equipped, the models with this engine can tow up to 12,600 pounds. Eight-speed automatic transmission is standard regardless of engine choice, and all-wheel drive is available if the rear-wheel drive system doesn't satisfy your needs.

What are the Interior Features?
All trims of the 2019 RAM 1500 can be purchased as a regular, extended, or crew cab. The two-door versions seat three, and the extended and crew (quad) cab models have a rear seating area. Bed lengths vary according to trim chosen. The longest bed is eight feet and is available on the regular cab versions. The trim choices are numerous and include the base Tradesman, the uplevel Express, and the more luxurious Limited. Standard features on the base trim include cruise control, vinyl upholstery, and tinted glass. The uplevel models add on such niceties as bucket seats, adjustable pedals, and LED interior lighting. The Uconnect system is now in its fourth generation, and it comes as standard equipment on some of the uplevel versions. This new design includes a huge, portrait-style 12-inch screen display. This year's model lineup also features additional USB ports and also several micro USB input ports.

Safety
Aside from the airbags and traction control, the uplevel 2019 trims can be purchased with automatic high beams, a self-leveling air suspension system, front and rear parking sensors, and driver alert systems. The new design of the rear link coil suspension means even better overall driver control when traveling over rough terrain.
