Differences Between 2019 Dodge Challenger & 2019 Dodge Charger

Serving Cincinnati, OH, Columbus, OH, and Springfield, OH

The Challenger is a coupe, and the Charger is designed as a four-door sedan. They're similar in appearance, and both come with a pleasing array of engine choices. Of note, both the 2019 Dodge Challenger and Charger models have updated, advanced high-tech equipment, and both can be completely customized via the availability of some downright exciting package options.

Performance

The 2019 Dodge Challenger is available in a total of six trims, but not all of these can be fitted with the various engines. The entry level SXT comes with a 3.6L V6 rated at 305 horsepower, and the engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available as an option. The uplevel GT comes with the same powertrain, but the R/T gets a 5.7L V8 that produces a total of 375 horsepower. It can be purchased with either manual or automatic transmission. The R/T 392 gets a more powerful V8 rated at 485 horsepower, and the SRT Hellcat comes with the supercharged 6.2L V8, rated at 717 horsepower. The 2019 Dodge Charger can be purchased with these same engines, with the base trim getting the V6 and the GT and Scat Pack fitted with the 5.7L engine and the 6.4L V8, respectively. All trims of both models boast excellent acceleration and the familiar throaty roar of a Dodge.

Advance High-Tech Features

Muscle cars are generally thought of as being all about power and performance, with little attention paid to the advanced high-tech and safety categories. Dodge thinks differently and has incorporated the most desired infotainment and driver aid features into both the 2019 Challenger and Charger models. The base Challenger comes with Bluetooth, smartphone app integration, a rearview camera, a nicely designed 7-inch screen display, and a six-speaker sound system. Uplevel trims add on rear parking sensors, an 8.4-inch screen display, the newest version of the Uconnect system, and a Wi-Fi Hotspot. The R/T 392 adds on premium speakers and satellite radio. The 2019 Dodge Charger base trim comes with the same basic high-tech features as the Challenger but includes satellite radio. Buyers who choose the all-wheel drive version of the base trim also get HD radio, Wi-Fi, and an upgraded stereo. The mid-level GT trim doesn't add any major high-tech features because they're mostly included on the base version. However, it and the Scat Pack trims can be customized as described below.

Personal Customization

Both of these models allow for major package customization. For example, the 2019 Challenger can be ordered with numerous stand-alone options including a sunroof, exterior graphics, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with emergency braking, and an 18-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The 2019 Charger can be purchased with xenon headlights, a navigation system, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, and heated front and rear seats.

These are performance-oriented muscle cars, but they offer more than just a powerful engine. They're packed with features and can be completely customized to suit the taste of the buyer.
